Inspiration Series… Wedding Cake

Let them eat cake!

A cake is pretty much guaranteed at any wedding, the big question is, which cake? Pinterest has ensured that pretty much anything goes nowadays but we’ve compiled a list of some of our favourite trends to help get you started…

Geometric Patterns

A modern, trend led, twist on a traditional tiered cake. Geometric patterns are everywhere at the moment… interiors, fashion and weddings. Whether it’s stencilled onto the icing, patterns in the icing itself or even a hexagonal tier; there are so many of ways to weave this trend into your wedding cake.

Traditional

3 tiers, fondant icing, fondant roses and a pretty pink ribbon. There is something to be said for a simple, traditional cake – it’s classic, timeless and never going to be a trend that goes out of style. It doesn’t have to be a fruit cake, but it still looks the part!

Drip Cakes

Clever, mouthwatering and delectable, drip cakes are fun and certainly a talking point. Dress the cake with macarons, your favourite chocolate treats, meringues or fruit. I think we can all agree there is nothing more appetising than dripping, oozing caramel or chocolate.

Naked Cakes

A popular contender for some time now, naked cakes are showing no sign of going anywhere. It’s easy to see why; they are rustic, beautiful and often adorned with mouth-watering figs, strawberries and beautiful fresh foliage and flowers.

Foliage and Fresh Flowers

Speaking of foliage and flowers, we are seeing more and more greenery everywhere currently – gardens, interiors, wedding styling and cake making. Stepping away from fondant flowers and using an abundance of (food safe!) greenery with the odd fresh flower too. Dreamy!

Cheese Cake

Last but not least, the ever popular cheese stack! A wonderfully unique option, and the perfect savoury light bite for afters. Galloping Gourmet will be the team you need to talk to about putting together your ideal cheese stack!
