5 things to consider when choosing your perfect wedding venue

From finding the ideal location to falling in love with your ceremony space, there are a number of things to consider when choosing your dream venue. Whether you’re searching for a picturesque barn wedding venue or a contemporary hotel, we hope this useful list will help you along the way.

The perfect wedding venue is one of the most exciting elements of your wedding planning. A crucial part of your celebrations, your venue will create the atmosphere for your day.

Facts and Figures

While we would all love to forget practicalities, there are a couple of key things to consider before you start your venue hunt… location and size. While you might be a little flexible with your guest list, you need the venue to accommodate your guest numbers. Unless you’re happy to travel a distance, you’ll probably want to choose somewhere that’s relatively close to you or your family. Wasing Park is within easy reach of major towns and motorway networks making it easily accessible. It’s also under an hours drive from Heathrow airport should you have guests travelling from overseas.

Saying ‘I do’

When visiting a potential venue, be sure to check out the options for your wedding ceremony. If you’d like a religious ceremony, you’ll need to find a church within easy reach. And, if you have your heart set on a civil ceremony, check that the venue is licensed and ask to see their ceremony spaces. You might even decide to enquire about outdoor ceremony options. Couples marrying at Wasing Park have all options available to them. You can say ‘I do’ in the contemporary Garden Room or outside in the Victorian Summerhouse. We’re also fortunate enough to have the 15th century Parish Church of St Nicholas set within our grounds.

Food & Drink

From welcome drinks and canapés through to your wedding breakfast and evening dining, delighting your guests with delicious food and drink is likely to be high on your list of wedding priorities. A great venue should be able to offer numerous dining options to suit your day, whether they have an in-house caterer or provide a list of recommended suppliers. At Wasing Park, we’re delighted to work alongside Galloping Gourmet who will work with you to create exceptional dining experiences on your special day.
