An Elegant Summer Wedding

With a graceful colour scheme, beautiful décor, exquisite menu and live music, the summer wedding of Kerry and Sean was an absolute joy.

Kerry and Sean dreamed of marrying in a church and wanted to find a venue where they could host a fabulous party and enjoy an exceptional dining experience. Wasing Park was the first and only venue they visited, and it ticked every box for their September wedding.

“It was simply perfect, from the long, picturesque drive through the stunning grounds to the landscaped garden and elegant Garden Room. When we stepped into the Castle Barn, I thought, yes, this is it! What are the chances of also finding a venue with a gorgeous church on site?”

Design and Décor

Creating a warm, relaxed ambience, the happy couple chose an elegant colour scheme of dove grey and white and used candles, lanterns and beautiful flowers as their key elements of décor.

Thoughtful, personalised touches included place names (with calligraphy by the bride herself!) and a hand-painted ‘order of the day’ sign. Tea lights and lanterns adorned the venue alongside fabulous flowers including elegant roses on the tables.

“It was so lovely to see it all come together – especially when you have a vision, but you don’t actually see it until your wedding day.”

Bridal Style

Kelly’s Stella York gown was the dress of her dreams. Having seen it in a boutique a number of years ago, she was amazed to find it again.

“It was a lace dress with a v-shaped back and a bit of sparkle. I put it on and felt tears in my eyes – it made me feel like a million dollars.”

The beautiful bride accessorised with flat satin shoes and an embellished hair slide.

Meanwhile, Sean wore a blue suit by Mark Marengo while Kerry’s bridesmaids were stunning in multiway dove grey dresses from Marks and Spencer.

“They wore shoes of their choice and I bought them each a pearl necklace with their initial on.”

Order of the Day at Wasing Park

After getting ready at Wasing Park Farmhouse, the bride and groom were married at St Nicholas Church, in the grounds of Wasing Park.

With the sun shining overhead, drinks and canapés were served on the terrace outside the Castle Barn before the newlyweds and their guests moved in to dine.

“A saxophonist played throughout our drinks reception. It was great to have some music and really added to the atmosphere.”

A Scotch egg starter was followed by beef fillet served with vegetable ravioli and, for pudding, a trio of desserts.

“The food was out of this world. I have a very sweet tooth and the desserts were three little tastes of heaven!”

Evening Celebrations

As day turned to evening, Kerry and Sean danced their first dance to ‘I’m Yours’ by Jazon Mraz and a live band really got the party started.

“It was great to see so many people up on the dancefloor, strutting their stuff and celebrating with us!” – Kerry

Hot dogs, steak sandwiches and halloumi sandwiches proved the perfect choice for evening dining, alongside a popcorn machine, cheese board and scrumptious wedding cake by Odiham Cake Company. A sparkler finale provided the most romantic ending to this spectacular summer celebration.

“Our event coordinator, was so great and helpful from the minute we met her, right up until she was leaving our wedding in the evening. We were so grateful and lucky to have her there on our wedding day.” – Kerry

Memorable Moments

“The event coordinator met us outside the church with a glass of Champagne. Our guests were slightly behind us and we were walking across the grounds to our drinks reception. Our saxophone player spotted us – he leant back, sax in air and burst into song. Sean and I took a moment to dance on the gravel to then turn and see our guests come to greet us properly. Unforgettable.”
