Sarah and James - June WeddingJames proposed to Sarah over a meal out. "We had been together for 6 years, so not really a huge surprise. It was more a case of when than if!" |
Here is Sarah and James's real life wedding story
The Venue
They wanted a light and airy ceremony and barn setting for their reception. "We also wanted an all-in-one venue so guests did not have to travel between venues and our family could stay the night. Wasing Park was the only venue we viewed in person!" They booked Wasing Park 4 months in advance.
The Outfits
Sarah's dress was a 'white rose' ivory dress with lace off-the-shoulder detail, simple gathering and silk flowers at the side. Sarah had fresh roses in her hair, a simple ivory veil, her Mother's pearl necklace and James's late Mother's pearl earrings that she had worn on her wedding day. Plus ivory satin shoes from Rainbow.
The bridesmaids wore 'Jasmine Bridal' sage green strapless poly chiffon gowns with an A-line skirt with poly satin accent sash at the natural waist. The groom and ushers all wore Jeff Banks suits with racing green shirts. Their cufflinks and tie pins were from John Deere. The groom’s shoes were from Russell and Bromley.
The Flowers & Decorations
For the flowers, Sarah and James chose old fashioned pinks and creams with sweet avalanche and hypnose roses, herbs and foliage for a fragrant setting. Urns overflowed with delphiniums, soft green hydrangeas, stocks, peonies and eucalyptus. The table centrepieces were made of similar flowers and herbs to complement the bouquets and dried bougainvillea petals scattered on the table. "The barn is beautiful and needs little decoration. We had cream metal hearts hanging around the barn with paper lanterns outside for later in the evening. Our tables were named after horses we have owned with pictures of them on each table. Guests left us notes about the day on reverse."
Favours & The Cake
For favours Sarah and James gave sugared almonds and mini eggs in plastic cube boxes decorated with pink and apricot ribbons. Their cake was made of 3-tiers; fruit, chocolate and lemon sponge and decorated with white icing and icing leaves in the same colour as the bridesmaids' dresses. A cake topper made by Sarah's Grandmother depicted the great loves in their lives - horses and tractors!
Comments
When asked what was the best part of the day, Sarah says "All of it! The evening entertainment was excellent and we really enjoyed dancing." We also asked Sarah if there was anything she had learnt that she thought was an important tip for future wedding couples. "Don't panic! Lots of people will tell you that everything needs doing now, but really it doesn't! We organised everything in just 4 months. Take everyone's advice graciously and decide yourself what you want. Have the speeches before dinner; that way, those giving them can enjoy their dinner and relax."
